WELCOME

My name is Darrell R. Sweet.  I’m an artist, craftsman, bladesmith, father, and husband. I graduated from the University of Wyoming with a bachelors degree in Art Education and moved to Cody, Wyoming in 1998 where I soon found my passions lay in sculpting, drawing, painting, and especially metalworking. In a natural progression from sculpting to metalworking to blacksmithing I found my way to bladesmithing.

Being a knifemaker encompasses every aspect of artistry that fascinated me my whole life. Creation of a knife includes design, engineering, metallurgy, blacksmithing, sculpting, heat treating, and leather work just to name a few skills. A knife can be as utilitarian or as ornate as the maker chooses.  By using my background in the fine arts combined with my passion for the outdoors I strive to make knives that will carry on the craftsmanship and traditions of those that came before me while providing customers with a tool that they will be proud to carry on their hip and wield in their hand.

The inspiration from my fine art comes from my surrouindings as well as my imagination.  You will find that I do sculptures of Western and Wildlife subjects very traditional to my home here in Cody, Wyoming.  But you will also find abstract and odd drawings and sculptures done from my imagination and my interest in obscure art and literature.
